Time to think, or reply in writing

Needing a moment before answering is a normal way to think, not a gap in what you know. Asking for it out loud is easier with a phrase already chosen.

I need processing time

Copy one, keep it saved on your phone, or put it on the screen to show someone.

  • I'd like a little time to think about that.

  • Can I come back to you on that?

  • I'd prefer to respond in writing once I've thought it through.

  • Could you send that to me so I can consider it properly?

  • I have some thoughts, but I'd like to organise them before responding.

  • Can we return to this at the end of the meeting?

I communicate better in writing

Say what you mean in any words at all. This organises your meaning into a message you can send — it does not add complaints, opinions or anything you did not say.

This tool helps organise thoughts and gather your information. It does not provide diagnosis or clinical advice.
